Job Title: Data Scientist

Location: Tunbridge Wells/Chesterfield/ London/Whitstable

Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 depending on experience + an excellent benefits package.

About Our Client

Leading Insurance Company with an excellent client base are seeking to attract a Data Scientist join there vibrate team.

In this role you will create value from the Group’s Azure-based data analytics platform by applying advanced statistical techniques, machine learning and predictive modelling. Contribute to the Group’s desire to become a data-led organisation. Enhance the platform’s capabilities to deliver a wide range of business objectives.

The primary purpose of the role is to continue the development of the platform developed in house, which stores and sorts huge amounts of insurance quote data and makes it accessible by the entire business. This is an exciting project with a huge scope of further growth in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

The Data Scientist will be responsible for:

* Actively seeking and identifying where data science can provide value to business areas across the Group.
* Engaging with stakeholders to define and model business problems and solutions.
* Developing programmes of data innovation that contribute to the Group’s competitiveness and profitability.
* Identifying sources of information that can extend the Group’s datasets.
* Communicating outcomes to business users as actionable insights and helping to integrate these outcomes with other systems.
* Complying with Group information security policies and procedures and other relevant standards and regulations.
* Working alongside the Azure architecture function to prioritise and deliver business requirements.

* Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a results driven team.
* Ambition and skills to develop into team leadership.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

* Proven experience in data science and data analysis.
* Thorough understanding of statistical techniques and their application, including GLMs, decision trees, random forest, boosting, distributions, clustering, simulation and scenario analysis.
* Knowledge of Azure data components.
* Experience of data structures and schemas, data preparation and cleansing.
* Wide experience of machine learning techniques and libraries.
* Excellent knowledge of data science toolkits and languages.
* Experience of data exploration and visualisation tools.
* Good knowledge of data query languages.
* Experience of data integration services and ETL.
* Analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
* Good communication and presentation skills.
* Qualifications in Data Science or another quantitative field
