EAI Technical Specialist - R2DS Engineer

EAI Technologies, Mainframe, Engineer, R2DS, GSI, ESP, SYSPLEX, CICS, DB2, WMQ, SQL, COBOL, Banking, Financial Services

The role of the EAI Technical Specialist is to gather project requirements, produce designs, build configuration data, and provide support during testing. The role holder will join a small team in the UK, bolstered by colleagues in offshore locations.



4 Months initial contract

Sheffield

£450 - £550 per day



Your responsibilities will include:
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Bank's proprietary Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) technologies.
  • Be instrumental in the design and delivery of EAI solutions for Bank-wide projects. Working with architects, application teams and project managers to ensure sound fit for purpose implementations are produced.
  • Ensure that non-functional requirements are clearly understood, designs are peer reviewed and endorsed by the Chief Technical Specialist.
  • Provide an EAI consultancy role to Testing and Development Environment Support (DES) teams.
  • Maintain the Bank's EAI products and apply fix packs as and when necessary.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues, promoting best practice techniques and adherence to published local standards.
  • Provide out-of-hours Production support as part of the EAI rota.




The ideal candidate for this role will have:
  • Experience of working with the Bank's EAI technologies (R2ds, GSI, ESP)
  • Excellent knowledge of IBM Mainframe technologies (SYSPLEX, CICS, DB2, WMQ, SQL)
  • Good knowledge of Websphere MQ and Message Broker
  • Experience of COBOL application design and programming
  • Knowledge of 24x7 design concepts and techniques
  • Knowledge of Mainframe release mechanisms (Endevor, MKS) and the mainframe release windows
  • Experience of use of debugging tools (Omegamon, Fault Analyzer) to investigate issues
  • A track record of resolving issues on Mainframe systems, under tight deadlines
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Systems Analysis skills would be an advantage
