Provide Reading Intervention Year 7 Children

Manchester SEN Secondary Schools

Love to Read?

Love to inspire others to read?

Supply Desk are delighted to introduce our new Love to Read programme, which will be launching in time for the September 2018. Driven by the shocking statistic that roughly 1 in 5 (20%) of school aged children are unable to read, Supply Desk are proudly introducing their new reading programme aimed at Year 7 children in their first term at SEN secondary school.

Do you have a passion for reading? Do you want to gain more school based experience? Would you like training on a specific programme that promises better reading outcomes for children? If so, then Supply Desk Manchester are here to help you.

Supply Desk Manchester are currently working with a number of SEN Secondary Schools in the Manchester area to provide teaching assistants to deliver specific reading intervention programmes on a 1:1 and small group basis. The aim of this reading programme is to improve the reading skills of children in Year 7. The programme will offer training to any candidate and as such, make the positions of reading specialist teaching assistant available to people with little or no prior experience of working in a school.

The incoming SEN teaching assistants will work closely with identified pupils supporting reading and English language in Year 7. If you have a passion for reading, and either have experience of this within Primary Schools, or would like to gain your first long term experience, this would be a great opportunity for you. Experience of supporting young people in an education setting is essential however training will be provided on improving pupil’s reading. You must have at least a grade C or above in English and Maths at GCSE.

The role will commence in September 2018 and continue to the end of the summer term.
