A large manufacturing and engineering company based in Telford is seeking a Shift Maintenance Engineer to join its rapidly expanding team. An excellent package is on offer (upon successful completion of the company probationary period) with a salary of around £32,000 per annum. Overtime and call outs can increase average earnings to above £37,000 and benefits including 22 days holidays, contributory pension scheme, free company training, free parking and onsite facilities and life assurance. As a Shift Maintenance Engineer your duties will include: Servicing and maintaining all plant, machinery, and ancillary equipment. Carrying out PPMs and attend machine breakdowns diagnosing any mechanical / electrical / hydraulic and pneumatics failures, minimising downtime. Performing root-cause analysis and fault-finding on production machinery. Using a wide range of tools and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mechanical plant, machinery and equipment to operational standards. Ensuring all maintenance issues have been logged onto the system accurately. Working to high health and safety standards while carrying out tasks. Playing a pivotal role in engineering projects and drive through continuous improvement initiatives. Regularly liaising with staff, production and quality departments regarding any issues. Servicing and maintaining other plant equipment to include water heaters, pumps and conveyors etc. Working to planned schedules and dealing effectively with machine breakdowns. To be a successful Shift Maintenance Engineer you will have the following skills and experience: Previous experience in a busy manufacturing environment. Health and safety awareness. Previous experience with hydraulics and pneumatics. Mechanically biased although electrical experience and good working knowledge of PLCs and inverters would be advantageous. Capable of understanding complex engineering / electrical drawings. Able to multi task with minimum supervision. Competent in the use of Microsoft products (Excel, Word and Project). Flexibility to react quickly, reschedule and prioritise workloads. A flexible approach to working hours, due to the nature of the role. The Engineer will be working shifts: 4 on and 4 off, 12 hour days and nights. In return, the basic (probationary) salary for the role will be £13.47 per hour. Upon completion of the probationary period and the move to a permanent role, the Engineer can expect a salary of around £32,000 per annum, including a shift allowance and bonus, to be increased upon successful completion of the company probation period. To be considered for this position you will have a proven track record within a maintenance engineering role in a busy manufacturing environment, completed an apprenticeship or equivalent training as a mechanical engineer.
