Our client is a hugely successful and well established business who have achieved almost 60% growth over the last few years. A well known brand with offices all over the UK, they are now looking to increase the headcount within their IT function. My client has a number of projects rolling out that will increase their user base so hence the additional requirement.
The role of the IT Support Desk is seen as the focal point of the IT Department and the primary IT contact for my client and as such, an image of competence and efficiency must be projected.
This role is primarily to provide second line technical support to clients for existing desktop, website and mobile based software and hardware. In addition to providing technical support a degree of investigative programming will be involved to assist in the reproduction and resolution of reported issues. The successful candidate will act as a liaison between users and the wider IT function. You will manage the timely follow up to support issues and ensure users are kept up to date with progress of longer running incidents.
Criteria: - A very good working knowledge of PCs, Microsoft operating systems including both desktop and server environments, popular windows applications,- Networks, and E-mail- Active Directory/Domain Environments, Proxy and Firewalls- Microsoft Outlook / POP3 / Exchange email systems / BES- Anti-virus software, monitoring and Spam Filtering- Networking (TCP/IP, VPN Access etc) Cisco routers, HP switches.- Internet access and restrictions, set-up, trouble shooting, reporting.- Remote support tools including Remote Desktop, VNC applications- Printers, scanners, wireless network devices- Remote access clients (VPN).- Microsoft Office Applications- Ability to remotely diagnose IT problems, and resolve through talking the user through the fix, or using remote desktop tools to resolve.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills- A polite and friendly telephone manner- Ability to work under pressure, and diffuse confrontational situations- Good organisational skills- A willingness to learn and work within a team
Salary up to £25,000
