  • Beautiful products to source and select.
  • Amazing, fast growing company.
  • International travel to Far East suppliers.

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer/Product Manager to join a great company near to Totnes, Devon. With eCommerce, retail and direct mail channels, they sell a wide variety of products and need someone to come in and take a strategic view on market/competitor analysis to ensure they are bringing the right products to market.

What you'll be doing

This is a mix between a product manager and a buyer role. There is a Buying Manager and a Business Forecaster already within the team, whist the MD takes a hands on view on product selection, development, pricing and negotiation, and this is after all of the detailed market and trend analysis; and this is where you come in.

This key position is very much about future proofing the business. The MD needs to step away from these responsibilities and needs to trust this person to understand the data, to manipulate it, to understand it, and to make strategic buying decisions off the back of it.

You will need to have the flexibility to travel across India/Asia to source new products and suppliers; products aren't designed in house, more found at source and then developed in to a range or collection of beautifully aesthetic, high quality products.

You will take responsibility for the management of suppliers, price negotiation and ensuring product margins are hit. Communication is vital within this role, and you will present new collections to sales and marketing teams, and manage stock by suggesting price promotions to keep stock fluid.

You will use the data presented by the business forecaster to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, to understand what products should be developed depending on trends and seasons, to analyse new potential markets and calculate the costs and potential returns of developing new categories and product portfolios.

What experience you'll need

  • At least 5 years experience within a similar role
  • Good experience across both product management and the buying process
  • A creative eye when selecting potential products
  • Ability to source and create multi category collections
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills
  • Passionate about working with beautiful aesthetic products

What you'll get in return for your talents

This is a fantastic role, where you will have a direct impact on the future success of this great business. They are well established, with a great brand behind them, and you will be in a senior role reporting in to the MD. Along with a salary of around £30k-£35k, you will get to travel to the Far East when required, and will work out of a great location.

What next?

If you want more than just a standard product or buying role, where you will be involved in product selection and category management then apply now or contact Chris Currey on 0117 926 9530 for more information.
