We are seeking a Network Technician to manage the support function of the Networks team within the IT department. You will act as second line escalation for all network related faults and be responsible for ensuring that all SLAs are met in relation to customer faults. Overview of the post and information about the team Reporting to the Network Manager, this post will be responsible for the management of the support function of the Network team within the IT department. You will act as second line escalation for all network related faults and be responsible for ensuring that all SLA are met in relation to customer faults. This post will also work closely with senior members of the Network team and our Internal Project Managers and Solutions Architects on the design and implementation of new solutions. The post holder will also be expected to work with the helpdesk and other members of the Service Operations Team The post holder will be expected to travel extensively, with equipment and hardware to our sites around Scotland – some of which will be remote sites and include overnight stays and out of hour’s work. The post holder will also line manage the Network Support Officer. Key responsibilities, duties and objectives · Ensuring that faults are dealt with in a timely fashion and are tracked in our CRM system. · Keeping documentation up to date on key sites including asset tracking. · Mentoring and training of junior members of staff. · Second line support. · Interaction with 3rd party suppliers and contractors. · Escalation of faults and orders with our upstream suppliers. · Diagnosing and rectification of issues on our WAN and LAN Networks. · Day-to-day management and monitoring of our Network Switches across the estate. · Day-to-day management of Network Connected systems such as BMS, EMS, CCTV et cetera. · Management of networks servers (dhcp, dns, etc.). · Administration for the team (Time Sheets, ordering, fault tracking and reporting). Essential requirements: · Demonstrate a clear understanding of network topologies and protocols. · Experience in configuring networks switches from the command line on Cisco and \ or HPE and \ or Aruba Switches. · Demonstrate a clear understanding of Wireless Networking. · Have a basic knowledge of telecommunications and methods of delivering connectivity (DSL, FTTC, FTTP, Mobile et cetera). Desirable requirements: · Knowledge of OSPF, BGP, STP protocols. · Knowledge of switching within a Campus environment (WAN). · Knowledge of MPLS and SDWAN. · Experience in Network Monitoring Tools such as Nagios \ Icinga \ HP IMC \ Solar Winds. Professional Qualifications & Professional Memberships: A degree in a relevant discipline or experience in networking is desirable. An industry recognised certification in Network Technologies I.e. CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CMNO (Cisco), ACMA, ACMP (Aruba) or HOLK6S (HP) is desirable.
