ICT Network Comms Engineer The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to invite applications for the post of ICT Network/Communications Engineer, based in any of the ICT Workshop locations (Hamilton, Johnstone, Newbridge, Dundee or Inverness) on permanent and also a fixed term basis until October 2019. This is a full time post however applications from individuals seeking to work on a part time, job share or flexible working basis would be considered. The successful candidate will be required ensure the availability and integrity of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s mobilising system, including command and control and remote fire station equipment. To install, maintain and repair the SFRS communications systems, and associated equipment. To provide technical advice and assistance on any aspect of the SFRS communications systems. Implementation and support of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s network infrastructure, including LAN’s, WAN’s, mobilising systems, radio, paging and telephony systems. Extensive knowledge of VHF/UHF radio, voice communications, GD92 POCSAG paging, satellite communications and networking technologies would be highly advantageous. CCNA accreditation is desirable. An additional market allowance is applicable to this post for suitably experienced candidates. Taking account of this market allowance the combined maximum salary for this post is £33,000. The salary range for the ICT Network Comms Engineer SFRS Grade 5 £28,533 - £31,458 pa with a market allowance of £1,542 added. The market allowance is an additional payment for an initial two period year period, which will be adjusted following incremental salary changes. This allowance is subject to annual review and may be varied or removed where market pressures change or no longer exist. The market allowance will be payable where the appointee is able to demonstrate they are suitably competent, experienced and qualified to undertake the full aspects of the role. Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to regular review - in line with the SFRS performance appraisal arrangements.
