Navigate, George Inn Lane, Perth

Navigate is an off-site supporting service for Secondary School Pupils from S1-S4 offering support to young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties which is based in Perth City.
Working in partnership with secondary schools, Navigate provides an individual package of additional support and education for young people whilst the young person remains on the school roll. We have a team of Teachers and Senior Social Care Officers who support the young people during their time at Navigate.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled teacher to join this strong team. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to build relationships and engage with young people and show that they fully understand the values and principles of a Curriculum for Excellence. You must demonstrate high ambitions for yourself and our young people, be committed and passionate in supporting them in achieving, in addition to increasing their educational attainment and employability skills.

The Individual

You will have experience of working with 12-16 year olds delivering flexible, adaptable inclusive education.
Be motivated to support the needs of the young people educationally, emotionally, promoting growth, development and learning.
You will be able to problem solve and reflect on practice to provide positive outcomes for young people.
You must have experience of developing positive ,trusting relationships with young people.
To have experience of different approaches to working with young people i.e. restorative practice, self-regulation, trauma informed practice.
You will have knowledge and an understanding of the nature of the curriculum and its development, whilst being creative and innovative, you will also:-

• Have knowledge and understanding of planning coherent and progressive teaching programmes
• Have knowledge and understanding of the principles of assessment, recording and reporting
• Plan coherent, progressive and stimulating teaching programmes which match learners' needs and abilities
• Communicate effectively and interact productively with learners, individually and collectively
• Employ a range of teaching strategies and resources to meet the needs and abilities of learners
• Have high expectations of all learners
• Create a safe, caring and purposeful learning environment, with relationships at the core.

Being a member of the PVG scheme is essential as is being registered with the GTCS.

As an experienced teacher, you will be expected to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver learning opportunities with young people focussing primarily on Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing. You will work on an individual and group work basis with young people in order to support them to reach their potential and ultimately transition back to school or a positive post 16 destination.

A full UK drivers licence although not essential would be desirable.
