Desktop and Applications Delivery Specialist

Glasgow Kelvin College is the key provider of accessible vocational and core-skills learning in the north and east of the city. We deliver high-quality introductory to degree-level programmes to around 15,000 students each year from four campus buildings and through a large network of community-based centres. Engaging with communities which experience high levels of deprivation, the College works with partners to create inclusive progression opportunities in a vibrant and sustainable environment for the learners, communities and stakeholders which we serve.

As part of ICT Services the post holder will provide ICT technical support to the College's learners, staff and partners across all campuses and associated Learning Centres. It will involve the packaging and deployment of software, primarily using SCCM, to Windows endpoints throughout all campuses and learning centres.

The role requires someone who is keen to learn in an environment that contains a number of varied technologies, is fast paced and demanding at peak times during the year. The successful candidate will obtain exposure and experience of a wide array of modern technologies which ensures variation in the day to day job.

You will be educated to at least HND level (in a Computing discipline) or equivalent experience andprovide evidence of continuous professional development and have experience of the following:
  • Configuration and Support of Windows Desktop Operating Systems (3+ years' experience),
  • Highly proficient at deploying applications using System Centre Configuration Manager, SCCM, (3+ year's experience),
  • Strong understanding of PowerShell, preferably experience of automation repetitive tasks,
  • Operating System imaging processes,
  • Solid experience using Group Policy to configure and manage endpoint devices.

The following skills and experience are desirable:
  • Managing Mac OS, preferably using the JAMF suite,
  • Packaging and deployment of applications using App-V,
  • Vulnerability management, Virus management and understanding of local security settings/techniques,
  • MDM experience with Intune,
  • Exposure to the Office 365 collaboration suite (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Skype, 365 Groups, etc)
