The primary responsibility is to drive continuous front-end improvements to Kaplan websites. This is a global company and is investing significantly in its online products and services, in order to make improvements to the user interface and the user experience of our customer journeys.

New planned ecommerce Flagship UK site for courses (SifeFinity .net platform)
Financial - current live course ecommerce site, migrating to ######.###
Publishing - current sells our books, moving to a new ecommerce site on SiteFinity
Other brand websites

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the business plan, build and launch a new ecommerce platform, a project representing significant investment that will move Kaplan's web capability forward.

This role will offer the opportunity to:

* Grow, develop and work collaboratively with teams looking to lead in our industry and stay ahead of the competition
* Lead the development of the Design System (Kosmos)
* Work with internal and external teams, building relationships with stakeholders
* Ensure your knowledge and skills grow with training and support (good budget for training)
* Work closely with UX, Design and Content teams to collaboratively define and scope projects
* Work in a relaxed environment in a state of the art new office
* Continually innovate and introduce new ideas, techniques and technologies.

Technical Experience & Capabilities:

This role would ideally suit a front-end developer with confidence and ability in their technical skills, but also someone who is passionate about working in a highly collaborative environment with Design, UX and Content teams to drive improvements on the websites.

Key Skills

Standards compliant, semantic HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (Vanilla)
Front end tooling such as Node, SASS, Browsify, Gulp for local development
Experience working with front-end frameworks and libraries such as JQuery, Bootstrap, Material
Experience working with API's
Experience working with pattern libraries - The role will be heavily involved in the development of our design system (previous experience of design systems an advantage but not essential)
Experience working on .NET based CMS systems
Experience of developing on e-commerce platforms
Working knowledge of code performance, optimisation and testing
Working knowledge of accessibility best practices
Experience of working with Git version control and deployment
Scoping of dev work - Producing technical and functional spec and communicating this to colleagues and stakeholders

It is essential that the role holder has knowledge and experience in best practise modern web development and a passion for creating effective and engaging products. You will be aware of and prepared to work with emerging technologies and have an understanding of how they are being used in the market. The role would suit someone wanting to innovate and introduce new ideas or help deliver digital solutions that would give Kaplan Financial a competitive advantage.

Someone who is keen to learn and develop will do particularly well in this role as there will be the opportunity to undertake formal training in areas which will be of benefit to the team and take the lead with;

Developing new components, templates and features based on changing requirements and user research.
Identifying where technical improvements can be made and creating concepts for review.
Prioritising workload in line with deadlines and project timelines
Implementing changes on (SiteFiniity - live now but new ecommerce functionality to be release)
Older sites will need to be maintained until the new site migration projects are complete(Legacy Platform SharePoint)
