Payroll Officer (Accountancy Services)

Full-time role although part-time considered

Portishead, Nr Bristol

£20,000 - £23,000 per annum depending on skills & experience

Accountancy practice with offices in Portishead and Bristol are seeking a highly organised Payroll Officer to provide dedicated payroll support to a range of small to medium UK businesses. Using Sage 50 Payroll, XERO and QuickBooks, you will be required to run multiple payrolls throughout the month on behalf of a variety of clients.

Working as part of a small and friendly team with dedicated support from the Payroll Senior, this is a great opportunity to take ownership and accountability for your own workload.

Adopting a highly systemised approach to maintain accuracy and consistency in service, the successful Payroll Officer is likely to have at least 2 years’ payroll experience, ideally gained from working within a busy practice and utilising various payroll software.

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for:-

  • Processing all incoming payroll impacting information and transactions e.g. new starters, leavers, absence, statutory leave and pay, tax codes & NI category changes,
  • Processing and reconciling all fixed pay instructions e.g. basic salary changes, pay uplifts etc
  • Processing all weekly and / or monthly variable pay instructions from sites e.g. bonuses, shift allowances, overtime etc.
  • Producing and submitting all HMRC RTI and auto enrolment pension files.
  • Producing and delivering high quality payroll output files to customers that comprise payslips, reports KPI's etc. relating to their respective payrolls
  • Processing of CIS payments Preparation of P11d’s
  • Managing auto-enrolment
  • Managing year-end processes Corresponding with HMRC as necessary
  • Dealing with correspondence to employees, sites and external parties e.g. over-payment recovery letters, Benefits Agency / Child support requests for information, financial references etc. Ensuring all required controls are correctly operated and all required evidence is produced and retained, resulting in a robust and secure payroll process.
Experience & Qualifications required:

    Sage 50 Payroll Intermediate-Advanced ExcelAuto Enrolment knowledgeExperience of working in a similar role
Experience & Qualifications preferred but training can be provided:

    XEROQuickBooks Pension knowledge
