Job title: Wastewater Operations Technician

Location: Heathrow Airport and Greater London Area

Salary: Competitive Salary + Annual Bonus + Excellent Veolia Benefits Package and Pension

Hours: 40 hours per week

We are looking for an experienced Wastewater Operations Technician to join our newly won contract at the Heathrow Airport. You will be required to maintain and operate safe operation of Heathrow Glycol Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Pumping Stations and Networks assets across the South Region.

The successful candidate needs to be able to provide normal and out of hours cover, including the availability to participate in an out of hours standby - 1 in 4 weeks rotation.

What you’ll do,

*

The delivery and treatment of Trade, Foul, Surface Effluent via networks, pumping stations and sludge processes.

*

Operate Plant and equipment to ensure effective treatment and disposal in line with Veolia’s and Client’s processes and procedures.

*

Carry out process performance monitoring and report the findings to the Client and line management.

*

Identify and report Plant and equipment faults and failures.

*

Maintain safe operating conditions and housekeeping.

*

Take samples, gather operating data and report as appropriate.

*

Carry out maintenance activities in line with training provided.

*

Support maintenance and assurance activities within a small close knit operational team.

*

Assist in responding to abnormal/emergency situations.

Essential requirements,

*

An understanding of importance of security within Nuclear, MoD and Airport operational areas.

*

A full UK driving licence.

*

Must be able to pass a Security Clearance procedure in line with Ministry of Defence Vetting, as well as a Police CRB background screening assessment and airport airside access requirements.

What you’ll need,

*

Previous experience of plant operations (ideally in wastewater networks) or trade effluent operations would be preferred - similar operational backgrounds may be suitable.

*

Existing NVQ or similar qualifications would be advantageous, though not essential.

*

A general environmental awareness or experience would be of value.

*

The ability to complete accurate worksheets and records.

*

General awareness in the use of operating procedures and safe systems of work is essential.

*

Able to operate mechanical/electrical plant and equipment subject to training and authorisation.

*

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

*

The ability to achieve confined space entry certificate.

*

Basic IT skills and knowledge and

*

The ability to take the initiative and the confidence to carry out a wide range of tasks with minimal supervision.

We are looking for someone with a genuine desire to undertake ongoing training and skill development as required. This may require you to attend overnight stays and extended working patterns occasionally.
