Financial Accountant

Our client is a highly successful manufacturing business with operations throughout the UK. They are looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team based in Redditch.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and with responsibility for an Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for the control of financial data ensuring its accuracy and completeness. You will work with the business and the Finance Teams of subsidiary companies providing technical support & advice ensuring compliance with group accounting policies.

You will also be required to:

  • Take ownership of the relevant parts of accounts ensuring accurate completion and analysis of information
  • Prepare statutory accounts for allocated subsidiary companies
  • Prepare, produce, analyse and report on management accounts for appropriate subsidiary company
  • Calculate commissions and other bonus remuneration for the global sales force
  • Own and maintain the fixed asset register ensuring additions, disposals and depreciation are updated on a monthly basis and reflected accurately in the accounting package and prepare all required fixed asset information for the business and appropriate subsidiary companies
  • Ensure all relevant control accounts are maintained and accurately reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • Oversee and manage all inter-company transactions/recharges
  • Control the inter-company reporting process at the end of each period, ensuring all companies reconcile
  • Cash flow reporting and forecasting, in particular for non-GBP currencies
  • Produce VAT and intrastat returns for the business and appropriate subsidiary company, where applicable
  • Be the group’s VAT expert, providing support and advice to all companies in the group
  • Prepare sundry invoices as required (e.g. fixed asset disposals; inter-company charges; Derv and other staff purchases)
  • Support the Group Financial Controller in preparing the group consolidation and tax calculations
  • Provide cover to other parts of the finance function as required including Payroll
To be successful in this role, you will :

  • Already be a Qualified accountant
  • Possess a technical bias with experience of IFRS and some wider financial experience
  • Ideally be a first or second time mover from practice into industry or have some experience of working in a Group Head Officer function
  • IT literate with systems experience and good excel skills
  • Flexible, hardworking and honest individual who can work as part of a team
