Software Developer / DevOps

Are you a talented Software Developer who is looking to make that move into a DevOps role?

Do you have experience working within a DevOps environment and want to help somebody else make that transition?

Well, we're working with an international transportation and logistics business in Leicester who are looking for a Software Developer with a DevOps background to join their team.

The development teams are working to transition to a DevOps culture and the successful Developers will play a key role to help them achieve that! You'll be working with their clients, development and delivery teams, providing advice and coaching to implement DevOps technologies and champion a DevOps culture.

This role will still involve plenty of "hands-on" development, however you will be provided the opportunity to take the lead within the business.

The role will involve:

  • Building and configuring new server platforms.
  • Carrying out Incident investigation to find and address root cause.
  • Configure build pipelines to support automated testing and deployments.
  • Delivery of high quality features with optimal solutions and exceptional coding techniques.
  • Work from requirements specified as user stories, user acceptance criteria, and test plans.
  • Develop new and maintain existing features within the software products.
  • Working as part of a team within a Scrum or other Agile framework.
  • Collaborating closely with team members to maximise overall velocity.
  • Present to and liaise with stakeholders during Sprint Reviews.
  • Create and maintain appropriate levels of documentation.

What skills are they looking for?

  • Knowledge and experience of Agile working methodologies.
  • Experience of DevOps, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous delivery (CD), especially within Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio/.Net Framework.
  • C# Programming Language.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Relational Database Systems.
  • Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL including stored procedures, triggers etc.
  • Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems.

Ideally, you'll have exposure to:

  • OOP, TDD, Design Patterns, SOA.
  • AngularJS, JavaScript.
  • Web APIs, MVC, RESTful, EF.
  • Data Exchange interfaces (e.g. ActiveMQ).
  • Data Warehousing.
  • Microsoft Team Foundation Server / Visual Studio.

If this role looks of interest and if you'd be interested in discussing this role in finer detail, then get in touch with Jack Leeming.
