The principle activities of the UK footprint are the development, manufacture, sales and through-life support of a range of products in the field of tactical communications and precision approach radar. This role will support all aspects of the business delivery and requires the successful candidate to provide good quality data, research and analyse financial information to help the company make well informed decisions, write reports to give insight and monitor financial movements as well as provide guidance and challenge.

Job Description:

  • Measure financial performance by driving the building of an annual operating plan with the business and management, compare and analyse actuals with plans, re-forecasting using cost management applications and flash reports as required in areas such as order intake, revenue, backlog, departmental costs, free cash-flow, gross margin, operating income
  • Oversee the maintenance of accounts and records in such areas as sales invoicing, orders and revenue, purchase order/spend for indirect costs and department manager support/reporting, cash collection and receivables
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare reports, make general ledger entries and review and verify accuracy of journal entries.
  • Prepare and/or review income and balance sheet statements, profit and loss statements, consolidated statements, and other accounting statements and reports
  • Obtain, distribute and interpret financial reports and records for management
  • Design, modify, install and/or maintain general accounting systems to provide records of assets, liabilities, and financial transactions
  • Assist in the maintenance of accounts and records in such areas as, as invoice coding and approvals, purchase order/requisitions, inventory/work-in-progress, direct cost recovery and department manager support, timecard and expenses user support & reporting, cash-flow management and operating income
  • Track the cost and efficiency of the operation
  • Measure financial performance by comparing and analyzing actuals with plans
  • Report on relevant and accurate financial insight, trends and forecasts to the business
  • Improve business delivery by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends and making recommendations to management
  • Increase productivity by developing automated accounting applications; coordinating information requirements
  • Focus on data quality through collaborating with colleagues, reconcile transactions, comparing and correcting as necessary
  • Ensure any adverse impact to the business cash flow is considered throughout the organisation
  • Provide guidance to colleagues on processes and techniques when establishing and enforcing application of Harris policies and procedures
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the finance and accounting teams both in the UK and US at times such as audits or quarter/year-ends
  • Provide support for the sales and business development functions
  • Communicate financial reports to and from the Rochester location and CHQ
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications
  • Be the resident expert in PeopleSoft system to facilitate on-time and accurate monthly closes, providing financial data, to management team in support of operations, including Accounts payable management, Accounts receivable management, cash-flow, financial statement reporting, and data queries as needed
  • Support HBX (process improvement) initiatives, improve and evolve our financial operations, procedures and systems to meet business needs and fiduciary responsibilities
Qualifications:

  • Fully Qualified (ACCA, CIMA) or QBE or Degree in Finance, Economics or related field
Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Able to concur on shared goals and work with the team first over individual contribution
  • Significant experience of Financial Accounting and Analysis
  • Balance Sheet and Cash flow analysis
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, MS Office, consolidation packages & financial software applications
  • Well informed in current financial subjects, accounting, tax laws, money market and business environments
  • Hands on experience with statistical analysis and statistical packages
  • Can work to tight deadline
