A charity are looking for a Community Shop Manger based in Keswick for a 12 month contract. You will need to deliver sales/profit targets through the effective management and motivation of the shop team including volunteers. You will take ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the shop is managed in accordance with the organisation's policies and procedures. You will recruit, inspire, support and empower your own team of volunteers to run the shops and will utilise the volunteers' knowledge of the local community and enthusiasm for fashion to identify the right product mix and pricing levels for the shop to maximise sales. You will generate high quality stock and lead a program of events to engage the local community and promote the shop. Key Responsibilities: -To be responsible for the effective recruitment, induction, management and development of volunteers in the shop, ensuring the team feel valued, motivated, happy and supported -To work with the volunteer team to optimise the shop opening times and ensure that the necessary cover is maintained when the shop is open -Empower volunteers to deliver and maintain exceptional retail standards, including visual merchandising, customer service, stock generation and management, range selection, edit and effective pricing through on-going training and development. -To work with the volunteer team to reach agreed financial targets -To be responsible for the management of the shop ensuring the organisation's policies, procedures and safeguards are adhered to at all times -To ensure the building and shop equipment are appropriately maintained at all times, reporting any issues to the property department -To ensure a high standard of display, visual merchandising and shop floor management at all times, maintaining an awareness of fashion trends, other charity retailers and local activities -To actively promote the shop and engage the local community with the shop and the charity to bring energy and drive sales -To generate and manage donated stock from the local community Skills and Experience required: -An excellent team leader, achieving results from developing and supporting others -Exceptional people skills, with an ability attract and get the best out of a diverse team of volunteers -Ability to drive sales and control costs -Enthusiasm nad knowledge for retail and fashion -Brilliant communicator -Demonstrable experience of stock control, cash handling and visual merchandising -Excellent time management skills to ensure the shop runs effectively and your own work/life balance is achieved -Able to illustrate an understanding of issues that result from working with volunteers
