Athwal Resourcing is currently recruiting for an interim Finance Controller on behalf of a fastgrowing SME near Telford. The interim Finance Controller will be handson in managing the day to day accounting while ensuring the accounting system is fully integrated and processes are operating efficiently to ensure the smooth running of the accounting department.

The successful candidate will report to the Director and have the necessary experience to install operational excellence and be hands on to troubleshoot, challenge the status quo, seeking out the best way forward and help make the changes required to ensure best practice within the business.

You will be responsible for:

Day to day management of the small accounts department to ensure accurate processing of invoices;
Preparation of timely management reports for the business including the production of full P+L and Balance sheet including variance analysis, accruals/prepayments etc;
Streamline the current processes and recommend improvements;
Develop and drive the management reporting and design a dashboard of KPI reports on sales and gross profit margins by the customer;
Ensure there are both robust stock management and fixed asset management systems in place;
Budgetary control, forecasting and cash flow management;
Statutory accounts and VAT returns; ensuring the financial accounting records are maintained accurately and correctly at all times and liaising with the External Auditors;
Working with external stakeholders including thirdparty funders;
Liaising with the management team to ensure best practice is adopted across the business.

You will ideally be:

A qualified accountant ACMA, ACCA, ACA or qualified by experience;
Have handson accounting experience as a number one in an ownermanager environment;
Have a demonstrable background in developing and managing initiatives focusing on process improvements and improved efficiencies and have the ability to drive change across functional boundaries;
Be IT literate (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and worked extensively with ERP systems;
Confident with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organisation and with third parties;
Strong drive to ensure there is continuous improvement;
Have the ability to work on your own initiative and be part of a team.

This critical position requires a commitment for the duration of the contract with the option f the role going permanent.
