This a rapidly growing technology business, focused on the commercialisation of a patented X-ray detector technology for medical, security and industrial imaging markets. Our X-ray detector technology dramatically improves the quality of information available in an X-ray image, delivering increased safety and efficiency through improved detection of defects and impurities.

The technology brings together a wide range of disciplines including X-ray physics, engineering, statistics and software development. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the team to help bring this technology to market. The ideal candidate will have experience of developing software to commercial quality.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your skills to real world problems and to be part of successful and rapidly expanding start-up company. The role will primarily be focused on translating the technology and associated research into high quality, customer-facing software products.

The primary responsibilities of the role will be:
-Developing software using C++ and C# on Windows through Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 and later
-Translating and optimizing algorithms and scientific processes developed in MATLAB to C++ code
-Creating high quality software libraries and GUI applications with documentation
-Ensuring software quality through relevant test strategies and code quality tools
-Software versioning and delivery using application lifecycle management tools such as GitHub, TFS, TeamCity

Candidates must possess the following essential skills and experience:
-Minimum degree-level in a software engineering or computer science discipline; alternatively a mathematics based discipline with strong commercial software development experience using relevant languages and tools
-Excellent C++ and C# programming skills
-An understanding of modern software development methodologies, patterns, and practices
-Experience of static code analysis, test coverage tools
-Solid Mathematics knowledge particularly geometry, vectors, matrices, statistics
-Knowledge of MATLAB (from academia or employment)

The following skills and experience would be of benefit:
-Parallel programming using GPU's (CUDA/OpenCL), multi-core CPU's, and threads
-Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux and associated shell scripting languages (Python, Bash)
-An awareness of C/C++ compilers beyond Visual Studio, e.g. MinGW, DJGPP, Cygwin.
-Knowledge of image processing techniques
-Levels of scientific and technical understanding that allow effective communication with the rest of the business
-Previous experience of writing software or working within an FDA/IEC62304/ISO compliant framework
