At SSE, doing more for customers drives us, adding value to their lives motivates us, and getting things absolutely right for them matters to us most. To help us deliver on this ambition we have been growing our Continuous Improvement (CI) capability over the past 2 years and now have a network of around.120 practitioners across the organisation. And we're looking to increase this even further.

You will lead the identification, root cause analysis, benefits case and solution delivery for improvements across our Smart value chain. From developing the customer proposition for Smart, to the commissioning of meters in our customers' properties, this end-to-end process crosses multiple directorates within our business and requires people with excellent communication and delivery capability who can manage complex projects across various business units.

You should maintain strong awareness of best practices both within and external to the industry in order that you're up to date with changes in technology and different ways of working. You'll be responsible for the development of process improvements, using your networks within SSE to ensure change initiatives are aligned across our business.

We're looking for someone who has extensive experience in Lean, and Continuous Improvement (ideally to Black Belt although training may be offered to the right candidate). You should have a proven track record in investigation and delivery of large business change projects and will display strong leadership, facilitation, organisation, planning and project management skills plus experience of working in a high performing team environment.

You should have excellent written, presentation and communication skills and be competent at presenting complex information and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels. You will have an ability to think 'Customer', ensuring a balance between business and customer outcomes.

You should have an appreciation of the Energy industry and the challenges we face, having likely gained experience in a comparable FTSE business in the utility, oil and gas / manufacturing environment, a major retailer, services business or management consulting firm.
