If you are a Bid Manager with experience of winning business within the defecnce sector and any knowledge of the MoD i would like to hear from you today.

This is a key role that requires leadership qualities backed by experience to coordinate bids across the 3 sites from established teams working across a range of engineering disciplines. Deliver growth by producing compelling proposals which delight Customers, increase capability, support growth campaigns, increase shareholder value and offer work which is capable of being delivered in a timely and profitable way.
*Plan and co-ordinate all bid activities to provide a structured approach to the bid compilation and review process.
*Create, maintain and drive a bid plan for each pursuit, working closely with the BD lead.
*Together with the BD lead, ensure actions for bid team members are clearly set, captured and understood; monitor progress against actions to ensure they are addressed and completed when required.
*Ensure resource requirements in support of bids both internal and external, are defined and understood to allow conflicts to be addressed in good time.
*Build and maintain a visual plan to effectively show the overall bid work load against time.
*Co-ordinate the bid team to ensure cost estimates are produced, collated and presented for review as per the stage gate process.
*Populate the cost model tool with data supplied from other team members as appropriate to build up the overall pricing structure.
*Manage the internal bid process tools, updating in line with bid progression and providing timely and effective reporting to line management.
*To own and manage the stage gate (Quotation & Contract Review) process.

*Ability to plan logically and manage/influence people to provide the required inputs in order to achieve successful and timely delivery of bids and proposals.
*Ability to work with little supervision and use creative skills to solve problems
*'Can do' attitude, desire to succeed both as an individual and as part of a team.
*Ability to work under pressure to meet tight timescales on multiple tasks at once

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
*Experience of bidding process (eg Shipley) in a technical environment.
*Good understanding of generic bid structure/composition and how this can be scaled to suit the pursuit.
*Familiarity with MOD Acquisition process (RFI-DPQQ-ITN), especially tender forms.
*Able to work independently while building strong relationships with key internal stakeholders.
*Strong planning and co-ordination skills.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to communicate findings to all key stakeholders
*High levels of numeracy and literacy.
*Computer literate, especially Microsoft Excel and other MS office applications.

*Engineering background, preference to mechanical and production engineering.
*Experience of cost estimating processes.
*Understanding product and project Life Cycles
*Strong numerical and commercial awareness
*Utilising of software packages such as MS Office, particularly Excel.
*Hands on practical experience within a demanding and competitive commercial environment.
*Project management or project planning and co-ordination experience desirable.

*The job holder will have a current driving licence
*Ability to be flexible and work outside core hours on occasion
*Regular travel to other sites.
*Ability to work in the UK with no restrictions
*Must meet security vetting criteria
