Job Summary

This internal vacancy is available to permanent and temporary employees of EDLCT and agency workers currently on assignment.

East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust are looking for an outgoing and approachable person to support the delivery of excellent services in our modern libraries.

Applicants should have the necessary skills and commitment to deliver a wide range of services and activities to the community. A good understanding of IT and technology would be beneficial, as is the ability to organise and manage your time and workload.

Previous library experience is not essential. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, is passionate about delivering excellent service, and are confident and comfortable solving problems on an individual and team basis. You will have excellent verbal and written skills and be confident interacting with customers and actively promote our services.

As we work in an environment of continuous improvement, adaptability, flexibility and initiative would also be requirements for the post.

Educated to Standard Grade level or equivalent, you should have good interpersonal skills combined with experience of dealing with a wide range of customers. You should also have good IT skills, a sound understanding of books and reading and be able to lift and carry stock on a regular basis.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate's first salary payment.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee's wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee's final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
