About the Role

As Headteacher you will have responsibility for the development and delivery of continued high quality learning and teaching which meets the needs of all pupils. You will also be expected to lead quality assurance measures to plan, develop and monitor the continuous improvement of the school and implement local and national objectives.

The Headteacher also has line management responsibility for the hearing impairment and visual impairment services who work out of the school.

The Headteacher with his or her team provide expertise to Education and Children's Services through different process which can include aspects of outreach support to mainstream schools.

There is a requirement for the skills and aptitude of the Headteacher to be able to support a challenging area. This includes sensitivity to the needs of individuals and families and the building of strong working relationships.

About the School

Fairview School is the Authority's specialist school for children and young people with severe and complex and enduring additional support needs (aged 2 to 18 years). The school supports children and young people with severe social communication difficulties including those with Autistic Spectrum Condition. Children and young people often have associated medical and physical needs. The school collaborates closely with a range of multi-agency professionals to meet these needs.

The school has been purpose built to provide excellent facilities and was opened in March 2008. The school was inspected by Her Majesty's Inspectors of Education (HMIe) in February 2009. The Nursery provision is regularly inspected by the Care Inspectorate and in the most recent inspection received the highest commendation. Both reports can be accessed from the school website.
