We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer on behalf of a world leading company.Working in their modern well equipped facility in Washington, Tyne & Wear, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing hardware and software solutions for new equipment, and electrically maintaining and improving automated machinery. Working with a strong team of multi skilled maintenance Engineers. You will have a proven track record in machine building and experience of electrical circuitry design. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong production professional to work within an established and growing high profile international organisation.

  • Ensure production equipment is electrically safe (C.E.)
  • Write software programs for PLC’s, Servos and H.M.I’s
  • Generate drawings and technical documents for equipment
  • Work with external suppliers to ensure fit for purpose equipment is delivered to the plant
  • Commission equipment to agreed standards
  • Work as part of the Engineering and Operations team
  • Make an effective contribution to improve product quality and operational performance
  • Fault find and resolve issues within the manufacturing process as part of a team
  • Supervise electricians and mechanical fitters
  • Manage projects to completion within a planned timeline
  • Present project status daily and monthly
  • Source and purchase electrical control equipment
  • Make an effective contribution to improve product quality and operational performance
  • An apprentice time served or graduate electrical engineer
  • Candidates must have a good knowledge of PLC programming with either Mitsubishi or Omron (preferably both).
  • A proven track record in machine building and experience of electrical circuitry design is also required.
  • Candidates will need to demonstrate good teamwork as there is a need to work closely with others to successfully complete individual and plant objectives throughout the year.
  • Knowledge of machine vision systems would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided.
