This highly-rated Academy in North Somerset is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Biology Teacher to take responsibility as Head of Biology for September. The successful applicant would be responsible for taking a major role in furthering the development of this successful faculty and have the vision and ability to accomplish this.

Situated in North Somerset and within commutable distance from both Bristol and Taunton, this ‘Outstanding’ rated academy is continually oversubscribed and has a fantastic reputation. Due to its consistently high results, it has an excellent reputation in the local area and provides an outstanding environment in which to teach.

The successful candidate would support the Central Leader of Science in decision making and the day to day running of the faculty. The candidate would also be responsible for the monitoring of the new 9-1 Biology GCSE as well as coordinating with Heads of Chemistry and Physics to enable the delivery of outstanding lessons across the faculty. The department and academy as a whole form a supportive environment which also includes an outstanding induction and support programme.

In this post of Head of Biology you would show yourself qualified and able to contribute in leading a team of teachers in the delivery of Biology within the Science faculty, ensuring high quality learning experiences within the classroom. You would also be able to develop and enhance the teaching practice of teachers in the faculty and promote Biology as a subject across the school. This role would suit either an existing Head of Biology or an experienced Biology Teacher/2i/c.
