Network Engineer to work both on and off-shore

Based in Aberdeen with some overseas travel and working within Industrial Oil and Gas

Network Engineer for hands-on roles encompassing network design, build, and implementation of small size LAN/WAN and WiFi solutions in campus and industrial locations using appropriate project methodologies.

Responsible for driving customer satisfaction through successful technical implementations to the expected quality, effective and courteous relationships, and pro-actively communicating with stakeholders.

Tasks include:

As part of change management contribute to standard test, implementation and back-out plans
Contribute to standard Technical Infrastructure Plans (TIP)
Production of customer standard Network diagrams using MS Visio
Production of standard project QMS documents
Liaison, under direction, with multiple third party vendors when installing new systems or implementing changes

Essential Skills - Knowledge of LAN technologies based on key vendor equipment (Cisco, Juniper, HP) is therefore required along with a good knowledge of routing and switching techniques and protocols.

Knowledge of the following is sought to varying degrees;

Routing protocols BGP,OSPF
Knowledge of IP VPN, MPLS, ATM, xDSL, Voice, VoIP, WLAN
Knowledge of infrastructure services including SDH,CWDM, DWDM
Knowledge in Quality of Services
Experience in network management & monitoring tools.
Hands on experience in IP addressing (including IPv6) & administrating subnets.
Terrestrial and VSAT carrier services

Good communication skills are required for this role; both verbally and in writing, and able to present technical information clearly. Working within a team but also be able to be autonomous.

CCNA/CCNP/CCDP certification

Valid Passport

Valid Driving Licence - preferred

Desired Skills and Qualifications : Be willing to obtain BOSIET Offshore Survival, Offshore Medical, MIST to be able to undertake project work on offshore oil and gas installations

Other Information:
The services will be delivered in a 37.5 hour week with a requirement to support additional out of normal business hours work (on call) on specific request only. Offshore project work may be required

Network Engineer will be responsible for their own training to allow them to work offshore including BOSIET Offshore Survival, Offshore Medical, MIST
