As the largest Sue Ryder shop in the Reading area, our Shinfield Road shop has a fantastic variety of new and donated goods, ranging from furniture to bric-a-brac and electrical items including kettles and TVs. Alongside our range of bric-a-brac we also have a vibrant range of reasonably priced clothes for men, women and children. A unique aspect of our store is that we also stock second-hand bicycles, upcycled for us and fully safety tested.
Our growing number of large stores are one of the most important ways in which we raise money to support people living through the challenges of life-changing illness. So when you take over the management of one, you’re not just helping us to turn a profit – you’re helping to improve the lives of the people we exist to help.
Our large format stores each cover more than 2,000 square feet, so there’s a huge range of stock on display - furniture, clothing, bric-a-brac and books – both new and donated. As Shop Manager, you’ll take responsibility for making your large format store a big success. You’ll maximise sales, control expenditure and manage a team, who’ll look to you for leadership and guidance. Under your management, both paid staff and volunteers will get the training they need.
With a passion for fashion, furniture and fun, then this is the ideal job for you.Being a new store with a high turnover, this will be your chance to prove your retail skills, and be as commercial and creative as you can be.Experience in retail preferred, with the ability to manage a large team and be a car driver. However, what’s essential is that you’re well-organised, with basic IT literacy.
Specifically, you’ll need a GCSE-level education, basic admin skills and a gift for helping customers find the perfect purchase – and plenty of commercial sense. With these talents, you’ll deliver retail excellence to grow income and make a difference to Sue Ryder Healthcare and the people we support.
