The technical author will be responsible for producing documents, documentation systems and processes for a range of products and services. Acting as the internal expert on user communications and working within Product Management to create industry-leading documentation.
·Work as part of a team to produce high quality product information and technical documents and update them with each new product release.
·Create and maintain new documents to explain complex product concepts such as information flow. The content and requirements will be derived from discussions with and material from developers and product managers.
·Work with R&D on developing systems and processes for automated document generation
·In conjunction with other authors, decide how best to organise and present the documents.
·Work with users of the material to ensure that it is written at the correct level and provides all necessary information.
·Review and edit material created by other departments, providing information cleanup and enrichment as well as basic proofreading and formatting.
·Proven prior experience of successfully working as a technical author in a company producing complex software applications.
·Excellent skills in one or more desktop publishing or authoring tools.
·Strong listening skills will be required to capture the information necessary and to know which follow-up questions need to be answered.
·A clear and concise writing style.
·A flair for tuning technical subjects and jargon into easily understood text.
·An analytical mind and an inquisitive nature.
·Proven excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
·Experience of common online documentation systems and tooling: Drupal, Markdown, JSDoc, Doxygen etc.
