Starting salary of £30k - £40k negotiable, plus open ended commission, company car, i-Phone, laptop, contributory pension, life assurance, 25 days holiday.

The Company

My well-established client is a market leading manufacturer of construction products. They are enjoying a period of growth and increased market share currently and wish to appoint an experienced Area Sales Manager.

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced field Area Sales Manager with strong account management and business development skills in the construction products sector.

Account manager - actively manage and develop existing customer base of merchants and distributors.

Business development - identify and secure new business opportunities.

Building distribution business for the product range targeting builders merchants, dealers, distributors and re-sellers.

Developing a partnership approach with dealers, distributors and merchants.

Adding value to distributor relationships by supporting and encouraging their own activities and by providing product training to their employees.

Liaising and working in conjunction with the existing technical sales force to provide the best possible solutions.

Organising and participating at open days, trade fairs and exhibitions.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for the position of Area Sales Manager will have previous experience in a field based sales role, selling construction products and will be keen to secure a genuine career opportunity in the construction sector.

Used to dealing with technical aspects and sales of products through builders merchants, dealers and distributors.

This is a genuine opportunity to develop and existing territory further and really make the role your own by identifying and harnessing new business; the working environment is one of great autonomy requiring a proactive approach to managing the opportunities in the region.

Naturally persuasive, creative and self-motivated you will be able to recognise opportunities and use your own initiative to convert these into sales. You will have an open communication style; friendly, conscientious and committed above all you will be a team player.

Experience of selling construction products to or on behalf of merchant or dealer customers.

Committed to maintaining the company's market leadership position within its target markets.

You will possess relevant experience within an industrial or construction environment and will be able to demonstrate previous success in field sales.
