Email Marketing Manager
Buckfastleigh, Devon
Up to £35,000 per annum depending on experience

About Riverford:

Riverford began in 1986, with a few acres of veg, a wheelbarrow and a beaten up 2CV for deliveries. We've grown into a successful eCommerce business, with four farms, three packhouses, a fleet of vans and drivers, a wholesalers, butchery, organic restaurant and pub. We employ people across many areas including IT, Logistics, Sales, HR, Finance and Marketing (and more besides).

We're mad about organic veg. It's at the core of everything we do. We love to grow it, pack it into boxes and deliver it to customers' doorsteps around the UK. This takes a lot of brilliant people, with a range of skills and knowledge.

Our culture and values set us apart from other businesses. Riverford is a friendly, informal place to work, with a passionate, entrepreneurial spirit. We're committed to providing a fair deal for growers, customers and staff.

What you'll be doing:

We are looking for an experienced email marketing manager who is passionate about delivering clear and compelling lifecycle campaigns.

This is a key role focusing on nurturing relationships with our existing customer base via the email channel. You'll own the strategic planning and execution of the email marketing plan and will work closely with the wider marketing team, sales team, events team and local marketing efforts to deliver dynamic, targeted marketing campaigns designed to boost the retention of our customer base.

You will be strategic in approach, results-driven and resourceful in execution with exceptional organisation and project management skills. You'll have a proven track record of delivering results and will be proactive in communicating these back to the business, using data to support your recommendations/findings. You will want to learn, test new things and optimise your plans accordingly using this data and insight. You will also look at ways to develop additional engagement through email support of our offline activities, such as events and shows.

You'll be a team player and able to build relationships with those around the business to get the job done - working with copywriters, designers and sometimes agencies to develop integrated campaigns across the customer lifecycle that deliver results. You'll use data to understand our customers and develop segmented campaigns based on the customer lifecycle and business priorities.

This is a permanent contract, 40 hours a week (usually 8:30am to 5pm). Based out of Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU

Skills & experience:

- Experienced email marketer with track record of success in building, deploying and optimising email campaigns to drive customer value
- You'll have the technical skills to build email campaigns independently, including establishing segments and triggers and developing email structure and templates. Ideally, you will have worked with major eCRM / ESP platforms and know how to get the best from the platforms and relationships with these suppliers (Silverpop/IBM Marketing cloud preferred, but training can be provided if needed)
- You'll have extensive knowledge and experience with email best practices including targeting and segmentation, list hygiene, ESP optimisation, template design, A/B testing, delivery and deliverability issues, customer segmentation, and analytics/performance management
- You'll be a comms superstar, able to position and prioritise various brand/commercial messages in a clear and effective way
- You'll be motivated by delivering results, comfortable with data and have strong commercial intuition
- You can rally a team to deliver a project, with the tenacity and resourcefulness to get the right things done
- You're a team player, able to work across a wide-range of stakeholders, comfortable and confident at communicating across all levels of the organisation
- You're hands-on, not afraid to dig in and roll up your sleeves to get the job done including building campaigns from scratch on our platforms, requiring basic HTML skills
- Other expertise: HTML (essential), Google Analytics (preferred).

Personal qualities:

- A can-do attitude; positive and resilient personality
- Strong attention to detail
- Analytical mind with the ability to work with data comfortably
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively

Salary:

Up to £35,000 per annum depending on experience

Benefits:

Riverford is a beautiful place to work, with lots of great people - and other benefits too. We offer 31 days' holiday (including bank holidays), a generous company pension scheme and an annual profit share. We love food and hope you do too, so we give staff 25% off everything we sell on our website; heavily discounted organic breakfasts and lunches in the staff canteen; and free organic fruit and veg. There are also many social events for staff, with two big parties a year.
