TM Resourcing's Technical Division are currently recruiting on behalf of their civil engineering client based in Malton York.

Our client are experts in Temporary Works control and design, due to an increased work load and expansion of the UK construction industry, they are looking for a highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Design Engineer based at their office in Malton, North Yorkshire. You would be joining a small, but rapidly expanding, company and can expect fast personal career growth as the company grows. We encourage all engineers to be members of the ICE and would support your completion of chartered review. We work very closely with a nearby permanent works design consultancy and would expose you to permanent works design to further your career progression Their clients range from local subcontractors to multi nationals with £1bn+ turnovers. At times you may be based on site, providing support during the construction phase of projects.

You will report to the Engineering Director and be responsible for: Designing and checking temporary works schemes to ensure compliance with BS5975 and appropriate British Standards and Eurocodes. Ensure schemes provided to our clients are the most suitable to their needs, wherever possible suggesting Value Engineering solutions and altering initial schemes where programme or cost savings can be made. Assisting with the general operation of the company and supporting our Temporary Works Co-ordinators on client's site throughout the UK.

Our ideal candidate As a Design Engineer you will have shown strength in Structural Analysis and Soil Mechanics at university, leading to a role with a design consultancy or major contractor. Ideally this would include exposure to the design and/or management of temporary works.

You will be pragmatic, very proactive and have a good understanding of the construction phase of projects and the importance of Temporary Works and its safe design, implementation and control. An ability to think laterally and apply design principles and codes of practice to unique construction situations is essential.

Qualifications and Experience

A minimum 2nd class degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ICE Accredited University. You will have 3 years post graduate experience. OR HNC/HND Civil Engineering and minimum 2 years Temporary Works Design experience with contractor or proprietary equipment provider.
