Job Duties:

To work with clients leading activities in electric machine design:

- Delivery of electromagnetic designs across a range of projects
- Responsibility for the electric machine development processes
- Working with the team on power electronics and control software
- Support delivery of mechanical and thermal aspects of electric machine design
- Authoring validation plans for electric machines including support of virtual and physical tests where applicable
- Support others to improve their electromagnetic design capability
- Support of the sales teams in the development of market opportunities through client interaction, proposal support and roadmap development
- Promotion of capability throughout the global customer base
- Support of the delivery team in the development of market opportunities for the client and roadmap development

Required Qualifications and Experience:

The successful applicant will have an engineering background in electric machines and experience of successfully delivering projects in a customer facing, automotive or equivalent industry.

- Minimum degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline (e.g. electrical and electronic engineering/ mechanical engineering / physics / computer science / software engineering / maths / control engineering)
- Excellent interpersonal and customer facing skills including high standard of written English.
- Good grounding in eMachine systems
- Excellent knowledge of 3D finite element / multi-physics analysis for eMachine design
- Understanding of thermal systems and impact on realisation of designs
- An active interest in new technology and developments in electric drive systems (machines, power electronics and control systems) and developing further cross eDrive skills in advanced control and power electronics.
- Experience in development of electric machine systems understanding the systems level issues associated with integration of power electronics and machines
- Experience in requirements capture and system level design approach
- Willingness to diversify and be able to work in areas outside of core competencies

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

It would be beneficial, but not essential if the applicant had some experience or knowledge in the following fields:

- Postgraduate qualification (MSc, PhD or equivalent)
- Experience with Electromagnetic analytical and FEA software (e.g. SPEED, MotorSolve, MotorCAD EM and OPERA, JMAG & ANSYS)
- Experience in productionisation of designs would be beneficial
- Experience in developing 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D models
- Development and use of process driven development of electrical machines
- Thermal design experience
- Good grounding in MATLAB scripting and C programming especially in the area of multi-programme simulation (e.g. running FEA models from MATLAB and using the output for simulation)
- Desire to work in a consultancy environment with a breadth of projects utilising skills but away from core areas of expertise
- Ability to lead small engineering delivery teams
- Willing to travel to worldwide customer sites as required
- Power electronics understanding
- Experienced in DFMEA for Electrical Systems
- Hands on experience of working live with HV systems (>60V)
