Software Development Manager; Agile, .Net, £60,000-£65,000, £6,500 Car Allowance + Bonus, 8% Pension; Bolton.

The individual;

We are looking for an energetic software development manager to quickly engage with the software developers, inspiring them to push the boundaries of software development and champion a clean code ethos. We need a true leader, someone who can confidently inspire the software developers to provide a top quality service within agreed timescales and deadlines.

Development and Delivery;
  • You will be working collaboratively to establish a long term technology roadmap and architecture for the group, working with Head of Programmes and Change to define, plan and deliver the groups tactical change programmes within timescales and budgets.
Team Management;
  • You will be responsible for growing each team of developers when required to effectively deliver on key projects in the pipeline.
  • Devise a skills matrix for the development teams linking to current and future technologies on your radar.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the development resources required to effectively deliver and support correctly engineered information system services and products across the whole group of companies.
  • Review the career development plans for each member of the team, ensuring their training needs are met where necessary during appraisals, reviewing their progress and performance regularly to help bolster the team and manage long term staff retention strategies.
Technology;
  • Devise a cost benefit and risk assessment to establish the appropriate blend of off the shelf or in house development solutions to new requirements.
  • Ensure the correct technology fulfilment and delivery approach is taken for new projects.
  • Ensure solutions fit the groups design ideas and long term architectural vision.
  • Keep abreast of industry and technology developments and apply an innovative approach to introducing new technologies to meet the groups requirements and vision.
Skills / Background;
  • Be able to demonstrate your ability to manage a mid-large development team (ideally of a team of around 10 would be beneficial)
  • Be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of an Agile environment, preferably having implemented new agile techniques
