JOB TITLE: Quantity Surveyor

SALARY: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience

WORKING HOURS: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm

THE COMPANY: Established in Carlisle in 1985 our client operated throughout the UK successfully as a main contractor until 2002 when the company focus changed from contractor to developer. Since then they have successfully completed a range of commercial, residential and industrial developments throughout the North of England and have several very exciting projects coming through early planning at the moment. Due to this expansion our client is currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor into a new role within the business.

THE ROLE: Based in the Carlisle head office, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible to the Commercial Manager to carry out various support duties for both live and prospective projects. Whilst being based in Carlisle, site visits / working may be required, for which mileage will be paid.

Key Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor role to include:-

- Carry out take offs for material and subcontractor procurement
- Assisting in Sub-contract negotiation and letting
- Site measurement including material and waste records
- Manage and value variations
- Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
- Preparation and issue of contractual letters to clients and / or sub-contractors with oversight of Commercial Manager
- Preparation and submission of interim valuations
- Agreement and certification of sub-contractors interim valuations and final accounts
- Preparation and submission of final accounts
- Value management and cost control
- Providing advice on contractual claims
- Analysing outcomes and writing detailed reports
- Valuing completed work and arranging payments
- Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working as a Quantity Surveyor and will hold either a recognised qualification within Quantity Surveying or have equivalent demonstrable experience. You should be confident working under your own initiative and be familiar with residential, commercial and civil constructions.

Essential criteria for the Quantity Surveyor role:

- Full driving licence
- Previous Quantity Surveyor experience
