Salary: £35,000 circa (negotiable depending on experience) + generous benefits package

The Role

To support the progression of trainee Pension Income Advisors and Specialists (offering AP's non-advised service) from their initial induction through to competent status. Identify and meet training needs and support colleague development as appropriate through a variety of methods including training delivery and workshop delivery, coaching and call and file monitoring.

To play the key role in the delivery of the induction process. Implementation of call and file standards and sales skills necessary to maintaining a productive and harmonious environment to foster the skills necessary to produce productive and compliant Pension Income colleagues and helping develop them to reach their full potential.

Key outputs

Training Provision

- Responsible for the running of Pension Income induction courses for both the advised and non-advised departments through the Partnership Academy
- Identify training and development needs of trainees using a variety of methods including training-needs analysis, surveys and end-of-course reviews
- Carry out course evaluation and analysis and act on feedback where necessary to continuously improve training
- Ensure that skills and product knowledge, policy and procedures are embedded and act as a source of technical support and knowhow

Monitoring and Record Keeping

- Leading and directing a team of trainee Advisors or Specialists to competent status after their initial induction through conducting file reviews and call observations within the Partnership Academy
- Determine whether T&D call and file standards are met through feedback sessions. Identify training requirements and/or risks and support improvement through coaching, with a view to maintaining consistently positive outcomes from business audits
- Highlight areas where internal standards are not being met and investigate root cause and trends to enhance processes where necessary and drive standards forward


- Conducting 1-2-1s and Appraisal meetings to identify, support and implement individual development plans
- Responsibility for day to day management of trainees' queries to ensure the smooth running of a productive team


- Helping to ensure a compliant approach and positive customer outcomes
- Ensure that positive customer outcomes are embedded within all activities as a matter of course
- Keep up-to-date with business objectives and priorities
- Any additional ad-hoc duties that may be required from time to time

Skills & knowledge


- Experience of managing/ coaching people In a regulated environment covering both pensions and investments
- Ability to analyse performance of a team or individual and implement appropriate changes and development plans to ensure business goals are achieved
- Ability to use all Microsoft Office programmes to a competent level
- Good numerical and literacy skills
- Previous training experience


- Experience of telephone-based financial advising
- Leading and developing a high performing team



- Detailed knowledge of pensions
- Level 4 financial services qualification (cii or equivalent)
- Experience of wider investment (non-pension) market


- J07 Supervision in a regulated environment (or CeSRE) or a suitable training qualification
