Senior .Net Developer - Investment Management

A Global Investment Management client is seeking a Senior .Net Developer who is passionate passionate about using technology to deliver solutions. The Senior .Net Developer will be responsible for the design and development of technology solutions collaboratively with their scrum team, which includes business stakeholders, following and contributing to their development practices and standards.
This includes:
  • Playing a leading role in solution design and delivery with their team-lead
  • Designing solutions with an emphasis on quality and a clear approach to automated testing and deployment
  • Challenging convention when applicable with emphasis on continuous improvement
  • Acting as a design and code reviewer to fellow team members and broader team as appropriate
  • Interacting with business stakeholders as appropriate to understand requirements and conduct analysis
  • Actively liaising with application and desktop support teams to provide pre and post implementation support
  • Play a pro-active role in team activities including estimation, prioritisation, stand-ups, show-and-tell, retrospectives
  • Following and contributing to their development standards and practices as applicable
  • Liaising with the the Technical Excellence Group as appropriate to facilitate consistency and continuous improvement
  • Mentoring junior team members and actively encouraging them to collaborate with and contribute to the broader team


Skills and Experience of the Senior .Net Developer
Required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong Microsoft .Net / C# development skills
  • Strong technical design & architecture appreciation, awareness and practices
  • Strong Experience developing REST based web services, web application development (ideally AngularJS, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3 and ASP.NET Web API) and Windows Services
  • Relational database experience ideally Oracle/PLSQL
  • Demonstrable communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full SDLC exposure including unit and system automated testing and deployment
  • Sound understanding of DevOps practices, such as continuous delivery
  • Experience with Windows and UNIX (Solaris, AIX and/or Linux) operating systems within a distributed architecture
Desirable
  • Investment Management business knowledge / exposure
  • Investment Research business knowledge / exposure
  • Microsoft Office automation experience including VSTO Add-Ins
  • Bloomberg Terminal API
  • Familiarity & appreciation of UX techniques
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as Team City and Octopus Deploy


Key Responsibilities of the Senior .Net Developer
  • Engage with key business stakeholders, building relationships and ensuring that the technology strategy is aligned with business goals and strategy.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities to use technology as an enabler, and minimise the need for UDTs (User Defined Technologies).
  • Actively promote an ethos of continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Challenge convention at all appropriate opportunities, identify and propose improvements and ensure that nobody 'just does what they always did'.
  • Provide regular communication and management information to management, business and technology stakeholders.
  • Participate in appropriate forums, whether internal or external
  • Ensure the requirements of treating customers fairly (TCF) are embedded within the team
  • Travel as demands dictate
