Heyland Recruitment are working exclusively with our client, a small, successful subsidiary of an international manufacturing business close to the Wigan area.

Reporting to the Managing Director with a dotted line to the Group Financial Controller, the Financial Controller will take full responsibility and financial control for a sub 10 million turnover division, managing a small accounts team in the process.

Following on from a recent restructure, the Financial Controller will play an integral role in maintaining the business stability, facilitating it’s growth and ensuring that this success is continued within corporate guidelines.

The main responsibilities will include:

·Ensuring the accurate and timely production and distribution of financial information to the business directors and stakeholders.

·Preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheet, group reporting and preparation of the board reports.

·Weekly cash-flow updates.

·Preparation of year end statutory accounts in accordance with up to date reporting standards.

·Development and ongoing improvement of financial and operational information and KPI’s.

·Proactive and strong liaison and communication with senior managers within the business, up to and including Director level.

·Direct point of contact with external Professional bodies – Auditors, Tax, HMRC, Insurance etc.

·Preparation of financial information to support the budgeting/forecasting process.

·Overhead Analysis – working with budget holders to implement business cost savings.

·Balance Sheet Management, Costing Analysis.

·Adhering to Group Reporting requirements and deadlines.


The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified CIMA, ACCA, ACA Accountant with a strong technical accounting background. Candidates with experience within a production / manufacturing facility will be of particular interest. This role would suit, either an experienced Financial Controller with a proven track-record within an SME environment or, an ambitious Qualified Accountant with strong Management Accounting and Financial Accounting skills who is looking for their first move into a Financial Controller position.
