We provide over 55,000 homes for around 130,000 people in housing need across the south and south west of England and the Isle of Wight. We're also a major developer of affordable housing, building around 1,500 new homes each year to rent or buy. Sovereign was formed in November 2016, as the result of a merger between Spectrum Housing Group and Sovereign.


An opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Technician to join the Rent and Service Charge Team for a nine month contract. The main purpose of the role is to plan, process and report on rents and unit information, ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements are met accurately and on a timely basis. You will ensure loan security records are accurate and reported to stakeholders and will contribute to reconciliation and production of Service Charge statements.


- Rent planning and budgeting
- Maintaining and developing the rent models. Calculating and reviewing rent increases for all tenure types
- Keeping up to date on rent policy changes
- Producing rental income and stock unit budgets and forecasts for all tenure types
- Rent planning and budget setting on stock managed for/leased to others
- Informing decisions on new tenure types (e.g. affordable rents)
- Calculating, monitoring and reporting on affordable rent products
- Maintaining the charge adjustments mailbox ensuring queries are responded to within SLA valuations
- Producing and validating information for annual valuations, providing unit numbers for financial statements
- Liaising with external valuers to ensure on time and completeness of delivery and resolution of all issues in respect of annual stock valuation
- Providing information for ad hoc valuations Stock reporting
- Performing monthly unit reconciliation for all tenure types
- Producing information for all Group companies on rents & service charges
- Producing unit number data for annual accounts Loan security
- Maintaining charged property information on Active H
- Providing information to valuers and lenders in respect of charged properties and property charging Service Charges
- Assisting with reconciliation of final accounts and budgets during peak periods


The Accounts Technician will need to have intermediate / advanced Excel skills with an aptitude for understanding regulatory guidance, and ability to apply the details in a structured and logical way. We are looking for someone with a track record of reporting accurately to tight timescales and experience of working in broader aspects of finance, including budgeting, control account reconciliations, audit and preparing reports. You must have, at a minimum, GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
