Head of Client and Risk Management

Our client provides award-winning professional services to manage contingent workers, and they are currently seeking a Head of Client and Risk Management

Fixed Term Contract – 3 months.

New and exciting growth area for Giant

Salary up to £70k depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide management, support and guidance to all staff involved in the operational processes of Giant Finance, whether direct reporting or otherwise
  • To ensure that Giant Finance provide facilities to clients in line with Risk Policy
  • To ensure the debts purchased are well monitored and the prepayments made are well controlled
  • To ensure that clients are appropriately priced and the costs of management of the facility are understood
  • To ensure that Giant Finance remains compliant on all aspects of invoice finance including legal matters (and subsequent changes to legislation), money laundering, data protection and operates in line with ABFA code of conduct
  • To work with IT development to convert tasks wherever possible to systems from people
  • To report as agreed to Directors and advise of any business issue arising together with recommendations for remedying

Specific Responsibilities


  • Management and oversight of all staff with responsibility for any invoice finance process even though may not have direct reporting responsibility
  • To keep up to date on legal or operational changes in invoice finance and ensure these are brought in to Giant Finance in a timely manner to ensure risk controlled and operations in line with legislation
  • Work with IT development ongoing to automate as many tasks and risk controls as possible


  • Review information for credit committee, ensuring in line with company risk policy
  • Participate in credit committee as signatory
  • Review and approve KYC information
  • Check legal documents prior to first prepayment and approve file for first payment in conjunction with Legal

Daily controls

  • Review daily transactions processed – via exception reports produced including disputed invoices, paid directs, uninsured levels of debt
  • Approve daily prepayments alongside Finance

Ongoing monitoring

  • Review adverse client information and take appropriate action to remedy
  • Liaise with insurers and other third parties to ensure that information is accurate on factoring system
  • Review management accounts received from clients, report on adverse information and suggest action

Client Management

  • Be main point of contact for clients for changes to facility needed
  • Prepare pack for submission for credit committee for changes to facility
  • Be main point of contact for client for service complaints and deal with these in a timely manner
  • Deal with client default appropriately including liaising with client, accountants, lawyers as needed to ensure recovery of prepayments

Knowledge & Experience

  • At least 5 years’ invoice finance experience in a staff management position with hands on risk management and expertise covering operations, credit control, risk, legal aspects of lending and systems
  • Experience of underwriting client facilities in an invoice finance environment
  • Strong commercial understanding of the workings of business
  • Good understanding and experience in financing recruitment sector clients
  • Ability to confidently interpret financial accounts and pose informative questions
  • Understanding of managing default together with an understanding of insolvency processes in the UK
  • Dancerace knowledge is essential
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Ideally holds ABFA diploma, banking or other financial qualification
