I am working with a leading energy management company developing consumer electronics for home automation based on Internet of Things technology. They are looking for an experienced R&D Project Manager to help lead the development of firmware, app and cloud software, hardware and mechanical design projects. You will be comfortable working with distributed project teams and take responsibility for the operational management of software development partners.

You will be experienced in agile development methodologies, but also be able to dovetail into a wider development programme that includes the design and manufacture of physical products.

Main Responsibilities of the R&D Project Manager role will include
- Project planning, management, tracking, risk management of the software, hardware and mechanical deliverables within wider Home Automation projects.
- Ensuring delivery on time and to budget, keeping key stakeholders abreast of progress
- Be the software and hardware delivery expert within the organisations Programme Management Office
- Taking operational ownership of sub-contracted development teams
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement within the team, and provide guidance on best practice, coaching team members on delivery excellence

The ideal candidate for the R&D Project Manager -IoT role will have a proactive, practical approach to project management, being able to navigate complex technical projects.

You will have experience in
- full software development lifecycle experience â€' architecture, design, development, test, deploy, support
- Experience in managing projects with at least 5-10 people
- Experience in working to a recognised agile methodology â€'such as Scrum, Kanban, TDD
- Experience in managing outsourced partners and subcontractors, including both onsite and offsite developers
- an in-depth understanding of the software development process
- Computer Science or relevant degree.


Experience of working with Internet connected products would be beneficial.
