Summary:

Come and be part of an innovative and influential University department delivering excellent IT and business services to a leading Russell Group institution. With a reputation for engaging staff and students in partnership to deliver services, for three years running UK students have voted us best for IT support. We are committed to delivering and supporting excellent customer focussed services and to do this we need to recruit the best staff, invested in higher education and dedicated to supporting sector leading learning, teaching and research – and that’s why we need you…

You will be working in the Student Systems Team within Technical Services, which is responsible for the development and maintenance of student related IT systems at the University, including central student records systems and the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Within the student systems team, the VLE Support Group is responsible for the technical support of the VLE (currently based on Blackboard Learn 9), its interfaces to external systems such as the student records system, timetabling etc and a wider portfolio of learning technologies.

You will have a good honours degree in a related subject area or equivalent qualifications (or equivalent experience) and demonstrable experience in analysis, design and development of medium to large-scale business applications, using modern object-oriented languages, preferably Java, utilising relational databases such as Oracle or MySQL.

The ability to communicate effectively with both end-users and colleagues in technical and non-technical roles is also essential.
