The Literacy Leader Person Specification
Being a strong Primary Teacher, you will arrive in this role having already displayed your ‘Good’ or better teaching observations, and will be looking to take the next step forward in your career. The right person for this school will of course be a very confident Literacy specialist with a full understanding of the required subject knowledge and a genuine passion for education and the betterment of the schools pupils learning. If you can strategically lead others within a school environment and act as a point of inspiration within the Literacy space, and can deliver and observe excellent lessons, then you fit the bill!
The Literacy Leader Role
This Literacy Co-ordinator role involves you making key decisions on how to improve the quality of teaching of learning within the Literacy curriculum! You will help to devise and develop the Literacy side of the schools teaching whilst overseeing teaching observations and also getting the chance to liaise very closely with the schools fantastic Head Teacher, who sees Literacy as a key focus point for school development. In addition to your new responsibilities, you will get to keep a presence within the classroom by maintaining a percentage of teaching day to day. Report all your findings, ideas and progress to the SLT and stay on top of the latest teaching techniques to help your teaching team develop their skills also. Your role will be to oversee Literacy across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, however you will only be required to teach some classes in Key Stage 2 due to current need. Sound good…?
