1st Step Solutions are proudly working with a leading drinks distributor, who are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sales Representative in Cambridge.

PLEASE NOTE - it is essential that applicants have experience within the drink industry, or have a minimum of 3 years experience in new business sales/account management.

Main Purpose of the role:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the continuous growth of the company’s customer base in Cambridge and surrounding areas. This role will involve regular prospecting of new business, as well as managing an existing account base, to ensure my client maintains its position as a trusted and highly effective distributor.

You will be passionate about the business and will be an effective communicator with an assertive nature.

Main responsibilities of the role:

• Maintaining excellent working relationships with existing customers
• Building and maintaining a steady growth of new customers
• Quoting prices to customers as and when required
• Working closely to a budget as set by the Sales Director
• Close working relationships with suppliers
• Close working with relationships with the Telesales Department
• Being the first point of contact for customer issues
• Working towards team and individual incentives
• Ensuring repeat customer business with the use of investments
• Self-management of expenses, mileage and budget
• Responsible for own administration
• Attendance at monthly sales meetings and bi annual sales conferences
• Liaison with the Sales Director on a continuous basis
• Self-motivation and drive
• Identifying and developing improvements to your customer area
• Support the Sales Director in the promotion of business mission
• To be accountable when working to budget to the Board of Directors
• Ensure that deadlines and objectives, set by the Sales Director, are met
• A strong and continuous focus on business development
• Building and maintaining excellent customer relationships
• Forward planning for business need

Person specification:

• Excellent computer skills, including all programmes within Microsoft
• Excellent brand and product knowledge
• A passion for expanding business
• Proven experience of working within a Sales Representative role
• A strong and assertive style to self-management and motivation
• Proven experience of working within a sales environment
• Proven experience of developing and increasing business
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to plan workloads in order to ensure demands are met
• The ability to be both proactive and reactive when responding to clients
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• A thorough understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality
