Job Description

Interview Date: Week commencing 01 May 2017

You will provide an effective Social Work Service to vulnerable adults, children and their families in line with Council policy and national standards.

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.

Requirements

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.

A Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent) is essential, as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council together with an accredited post-qualifying training award, or willingness to achieve post-qualifying award within 2 years.

Responsibilities

You will undertake professional supervision of qualified social workers within area teams and carry a small caseload of children and families cases where required.

You will also oversee the development of thorough and informed assessments of cases in order to provide logical and coherently presented recommendations for further action designed to enable children to remain with their birth families wherever this is in their best interests.

The Individual

The pattern of working hours will be determined for individual remits and on occasions may include evenings and weekends. There will be a requirement to attend meetings outwith normal working hours, when necessary, subject to service user and staff availability.

There will also be a requirement to attend outwith normal working hours for development, training, registration compliance etc when necessary.

Significant post-qualifying experience and an accredited post-qualifying training award, or a willingness to achieve a post-qualifying award within 2 years, is essential.

You should have considerable experience in a relevant setting and knowledge and understanding of Child Protection legislation, guidelines and information sharing protocols.
