Due to an increase in secured work and an exciting array of projects, especially in the Data Centre and mission critical sectors my client who are a market leading consultancy is seeking to recruit an energetic and enthusiastic Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, to assist the London building services team in the delivery of projects and contribute to the overall success and growth of building services Internationally and across the South East of the UK, with particular emphasis on London. The successful candidate would be a key member of one of their most successful project teams.


You will be accountable to the Mission Critical Mechanical Director and will assist in ensuring the success of the Building Services team;

■ A qualified engineer with significant post graduate work experience.
■ Able to work using their own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
■ Able to work under the clear direction of others and interpret the needs of a project where applicable to the discipline.
■ Work within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team leading and providing design and technical advice on projects
■ Complete detailed designs.
■ Carry out feasibility studies for review by colleagues prior to issue.
■ Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and contribute to the overall feasibility study for the project.
■ Produce detailed and performance specification for the discipline.
■ Produce detailed equipment schedules for issue with the discipline specific designs.
■ Carry out detailed calculations appropriate to the discipline.
■ Produce combined MEP Residual Risk drawings in accordance with the CDM regulations with input from other discipline as required.
■ Promote sustainability and energy efficiency within your designs and discuss the appropriate systems to implement with the senior team members.
■ Carry out condition surveys for the discipline for combining into to an overall report.
■ Visit sites as required to determine the quality of the installation process allied to the discipline.


Experience of working in a Data Centre, Banking , life science or Mission Critical project
Demonstrate good attention to detail and show pride in the work produced.
Have an understanding of the Part L regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation.
Have a working understanding of TAS of IES where it applies to the discipline.
Have understanding of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software.
Have working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Plant room planning and riser sizing.
Utility load estimations and negotiations with the providers.
Understanding of key legislation.
Manual double line and single line co-ordination.
Working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite of software (in particular Excel).

■ CIBSE / IET / IMechE Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience that will lead to Chartership.
■ IES or TAS training applied to the discipline.
■ Revit MEP training applied to the discipline.
■ BEng in Building services Engineering or applicable discipline and showing commitment to continue with higher education.
