Investment Manager, Manchester, £30,153 - £33,437 FTE

The role of the Investment Manager will include:

  • Portfolio management and working with external partners

  • Develop and deliver the products and services, ensuring the clarity and quality of service, to stimulate growth of social enterprises in Greater Manchester

  • Oversee social investment processes, identify trends, development opportunities and risks

  • Engage and manage the pipeline of potential clients to generate momentum and address dynamic shifts

  • Ensure assessment processes are consistent, fair and of the standard required to present to the Investment Panel

  • Be able to assess the viability of potential loans and make recommendations to the Investment Panel

  • Ensure contract compliance by monitoring eligibility is met and audit trails are maintained

  • Contribute to the development of Management Information Systems using cost effective technology

  • Contribute to the measurement and reporting on the social impact of investments

  • Liaise with business support organisations and social enterprises to raise the profile of our investment programme and maximise collaboration

  • Identify, record and share learning relevant to the programme

  • Work with the GMCVO management team and board to embed a better understanding of social finance, appropriately, at all levels of the organisation

  • Promote GMCVO's vision, values and mission and formally represent GMCVO as required


The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Experience and skills to deliver effective loan management to SMEs, social enterprises and/or trading charities; including credit and lending, non-performing loans and default remedies
  • Experience of managing an investment team to ensure contract compliance, consistency and transparency
  • Experience in the investment credit process including ability to assess viability of potential loans
  • Ability to lead a customer facing team in a new market
  • Ability to adjust product/services in response to customer need and changes in the market place
  • Ability to accurately assess individual applications against risk standards and advise on investment readiness' development
  • Knowledge of contracts, financial and legal framework and a positive attitude to negotiating delinquency variations
  • Ability to ensure high standards of customer service are maintained at all times
  • Excellent organisational skills including problem solving, managing conflicting pressures, workload allocation, task completion, reporting and efficient record-keeping
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including communication, positive relationships with all parties and confidence building even when working under pressure
  • High level of administrative competence and IT literacy
  • An enthusiastic interest in the social, political and economic context in which GMCVO works
