About the role
In the role of Rental Officer, you will assist with the provision of an efficient and effective rent collection service, optimizing rental and other income. You will ensure that tenants manage their rent accounts as per the rent management policy and where this is not happening, provide assistance to help them achieve this and when appropriate, undertake debt recovery action, in some cases involving attendance at the Count Court.
You will meet regularly with tenants in their homes or at the office, so excellent interpersonal skills are essential as is, a good standard of general education. You must also have some knowledge of Rent Account Management as per the Housing Act (1985 & 1996) and the ability to use your own initiative and work to tight deadlines.
A valid driving licence and your own car (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act).

East Devon District Council has decided to relocate away from its current headquarters in Sidmouth. Some staff will relocate to Exmouth during the latter part of 2017 and others to Honiton. The timescale for Honiton relocation has yet to be confirmed.
