Business Development Manager
This is a chance for you to join a national leading metal stockholder, who pride themselves on offering a competitive service across a diverse client range. Their extensive inventory includes a varied product portfolio, containing anything from aluminium to stainless steel. The main focus of this role will be to personally develop and maintain long-term business from potential key customers. You will work proactively to plan a strategic sales approach, identifying opportunities in the market where competitor presence is weak, and there is area for potential growth. Utilising customer intelligence, you will identify the most appropriate way of conducting business by focussing on customer objectives i.e. reducing costs, saving space, reducing processes etc.
You will develop relationships within each allocated account, with a number of influencers to present the company ethos and vision; seeking multiple opportunities within each account. You will advise customers on the market situation to ensure they remain competitive and are aware of any potential impact upon their business.
As an effective Account Manager, you will keep an updated status on each customer - their initiatives, projects and outlined strategies. In order to build an informed sales strategy you will visit customer factories, completing visit reports when action is needed, and recording all important information.
In addition to sales responsibility, you will also manage and control customer stocks within agreed limits - regularly reviewing with each customer the stock levels of all contract items and rescheduling with suppliers as necessary. You will proactively source material to satisfy orders and enquiries - negotiating terms, and placing purchase orders.
To be successful with your application you must have a passionate and proven sales drive, with the ability to thrive within a highly targeted and demanding sales environment. You must be able to evidence your sales achievements, showing ambition for future development and progression.
You will bring an innovative approach in developing business opportunities - with a tenacious flair, with the ability to adopt a variety of negotiating tactics to progress a sales situation.
Although it is not essential that you come from the metal/steel industry, an understanding of industry products and market trends would prove highly beneficial.
You will receive a competitive salary with potential for additional uncapped profit share earnings.
This role is a permanent contract and your hours will be 8am-5pm Monday to Friday.
