Cooper Lomaz are working alongside an expanding Engineering business based in the Great Yarmouth area in their search for a Project Accountant. This new role comes as a result of business growth and will work specifically on a new business project. As part of the project team, this role will be the stand alone finance representative, working with the project manager and project staff to understand costs and project profitability. You will also work closely with the Finance Manager on all month end account closes as well as billing for the project. It is also expected that the successful candidate will be required to produce ad hoc commercial reports on project performance before using this to influence decisions.
Other key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Produce weekly flash reports on items such as expenses, supplier payments and cash flow
- Support Finance Manager with the preparation of Management Accounts
- Report on budget vs actual performance
- Ad hoc project based modelling
The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with prior experience in a similar projects based role, ideally gained within the Engineering, Manufacturing or the Oil & Gas Sector. You will need to be an excellent communicator with the ability to work across functions whilst working to demanding contract deadlines. Strong Excel and modelling/problem solving skills will also be key to succeeding in this position given the highly analytical nature of the post. A background of business partnering is also desirable.
