To undertake the day to day supervision of employees and management of the Ardrossan Short Stay Hostel in accordance with the Homelessness Strategy and provide a limited support service to clients in all temporary accommodation outwith the hostel.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate Responsibilities
  • To undertake individual role in line with the Council's Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council's corporate policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Provide support to and monitor clients who may have communication difficulties or mental health issues and deal with any adverse behaviour in a sensitive and flexible manner.
  • Assist and work with clients addressing their independent life skills and ability to maintain accommodation, signposting and referring appropriately in response to client's enquiries.
  • Monitor client's behaviour and implement hostel rules to ensure a safe, stimulating environment for residents ensuring children are supervised at all times.
  • Manage a team, ensuring shifts are appropriately staffed and prepare reports for line manager.
  • Assist in the development of policy and procedures.
  • Issue clients with room keys.
  • Monitor the security of the building using the CCTV system ensuring only those resident gain access to the building
  • Maintain the hostel to appropriate standards with regard to health & safety, reporting all repairs, incidents and situations as required.
  • Carry out inspections to ensure the accommodation and common areas are of the highest standard and assisting in the reset of rooms.
  • Liaise with other agencies and services, referring information on client's behalf and informing of any issues arising within the hostel or during the client's stay, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Carry out general reception duties.
  • Complete and update paper records and computerised systems eg. recording incidents, issuing warning letters, using databases, providing reports from systems, including repairs and maintenance and logging and creating rent accounts.
  • Be responsible for the Out of Hours Homeless Service, interviewing clients, completing paperwork, providing advice, booking in clients and arranging appointments.
